RUGGED VS RAPID
Which OverRoam Roof Top Tent is right for you?
OverRoam Rugged Roof Top Tent
When raising our Rugged model, simply unstrap the Roof Top Tent and use the crank to raise it up. The entire process of raising the Rugged Roof Top Tent model only takes an average 25.51 seconds.
Many of our testers preferred the control and solidness of being able to govern the raising and lowering speeds. Some of the feedback we received (during testing) said that this was a better fit for those who intended on using the roof rack system more. Items such as bikes, kayaks, Rod Vaults, and other equipment can easily be taken on either model.
Both hold the same amount of weight and strength during transport. Although we highly recommend everything be taken off before use, our Rugged model had a clear advantage on its ability to hold weight while raising it and once fully up.
But again, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND you remove any gear from either model before you raise them! Follow our instructions, treat your Roof Top Tent well, and it will protect you from the elements for years to come!
OverRoam Rapid Roof Top Tent
During testing, The Rapid model was preferred 56% of the time. The rapid model is raised using four highly-rated nitrogen gas hydraulic pistons.
Simply unstrap your tent, give it a small push up and it raises completely on its own. The entire raising process takes an average of 6.53 seconds. When closing the Rapid Roof Top Tent, just firmly pull down the pack-up strap. Once it gets about a third of the way down, the tent takes over and softly brings it to rest.
High wind, rain, hail, and snow have no effect on the “Rapid’s” ability to stay perfectly raised and strong for the length of your outing.
If you’re going to move from spot to spot often (while out and about) this might be the best fit for you.
While working to perfect our OverRoam Roof Top Tent, we upgraded and reengineered well over fifty aspects of our tent. This was a long process and forced us to delay launching it for months. However, we simply won’t put an inferior product in the marketplace ever. We actually applied for pattens on several versions we ended up scrapping in the final stages of testing. Even on a feature as small as our zippers, we tested them repeatedly. Three different times our current zipper failed and had to be upgraded. How do you test a zipper? Well, MANY Denver Outfitters employees took turns unzipping and zipping each newly designed tent thousands of times. We tested the zippers until they were literally hot to the touch! We wanted to push every feature to it’s end in order to see for ourselves what it could endure. Each time a breakdown occurred, we redesigned and upgraded parts again…and again…. and again.
After each setback, the entire tent had to be tested from the ground up once more. We didn’t stop until we were ALL confident our OverRoam Roof Top Tent would last for the long haul. We have set our OverRoam Roof Top Tent up in winds storms, hail, rain, snow, sun, and everything in between. We have driven with it over every type of road, trail, rough path, and up several mountains. We made sure to bounce it around on these rough trails on many different vehicles. Trust us, from transporting to use… the OverRoam Roof Top Tent is a completely solid product!
Perhaps the feature that is the most visibly evident is our innovative, intensely strong, and state of the art roof rack system.
What’s the point of having a ton of extra time in the outdoors if you can’t take all the things you want or need? In the past, installing any roof top tent on your vehicle meant you lost every other storage capacity on the top of your vehicle. Well, boys and girls…not anymore! The OverRoam Roof Top Tent allows you to maintain a fully-functional roof rack system on your vehicle even when the OverRoam Roof Top Tent is mounted on top.
But wait! It gets even better!
During the design phase, one engineer on our team pointed out that even though we were providing the roof rack system, most customers would still have to shell out another three to five hundred dollars to add the needed crossbars! This seemed unfair to place our customers in a position where they were forced to spend even more of their hard earned money. And so, we went back to our manufacturing team and engineers to design and produce our own crossbars for each unit. We decided against charging extra for this, but rather, we wanted to include them as standard equipment with every unit. We don’t enjoy surprise add-ons when we buy products so we certainly weren’t going to subject our valued customers to things we don’t like.
We spent a great deal of time and energy finding creative and strong ways to lower the overall height of your vehicle once your kayak, bikes, Rod Vaults, or cargo box is attached. Our sunken crossbar design is the most innovative, strong, and far more space saving roof rack system you’ll find on any vehicle, trailer, or hard shell tent in the world! Our roof-rack system will assure you can keep everything you take into the wild tight and secure!
Everything You Need or Want… Comes Standard!
In researching similar products, we were troubled at the amount of items other companies made you buy after the tent was purchased. Things like ladders, clothes hooks, cargo nets, and even mattresses have been sold as add-ons for some. Sure, a few companies have now started include everything you need, but their prices adjusted higher and higher to cover these items. In our opinion, many prices for seemingly similar products seem to boarder on insanity! Our mission was to make the best product in this market. Period! That includes everything you’d need to be roof top camping from day one at a single all inclusive price.
When you purchase your OverRoam Roof Top Tent for $2,599.00 you can rest assured that everything you need comes standard with the tent. This includes things such as ladders, high density foam mattresses, LED lights, roof-racks, crossbars, and so much more!
The Debate Over Tent Color
A big debate we had within the Denver Outfitters team was in our OverRoam roof top tent’s design and overall look. We know that many people will leave this on their vehicle all year long so we wanted it to look as good as it was made. When it came to the color, we had to really do our homework. Through a lot of market research and feedback, we found that the color black was the overwhelming choice of our potential customers. In fact, 94% picked black over several other choices. For the record, the color white came in last and receive far less that 1% of peoples votes.
So, as has been our practice, we listened to what you wanted. And again, you were right!
Our only concern was that the black might increase the heat within the tent. After much debate, one of our executives in marketing pointed out that most people choose to sleep at night. And so, building on that basic wisdom, we realized that it’s very rare the sun is high in the sky at night. Yeah… We’re pretty clever people around here!
But just to be sure, we all volunteered to go on some camping trips to really research this out for ourselves. Our CEO signed off on this and most of us got to take turns camping in the Rocky Mountains! You know… Just to make sure we were right!
We have now thoroughly tested Denver Outfitter’s OverRoam Roof Top Tent and camped in it many, many times. We can all state with total confidence that the black is the perfect fit for this product. One requirement we all had when “testing” the OverRoam roof top tent in the field, was to take some naps in it around noon when the sun is beating down. Every single one of us never experienced any type of heat at all. On a personal note, I’d just like to say that we all have the best job on earth! From the top executives to the warehouse staff, we all get paid to test everything we design in the field. Getting paid to go camping for a week at a time is a dream life for us all! But being told we have to take naps at noon while doing this only adds to the lore of working at such a great company as Denver Outfitters! We love working here!
And we promise, you’ll love this tent almost as much!
The Best Price. The Best Quality. Period.
One of the best attributes about a company like Denver Outfitters, is that we care too much about our customers to price gouge anyone. In fact, one of the mottos around here has always been, “Work to make enough money to keep the the lights on and our customers living the life of their dreams.”
If you have to work overtime and through weekends just to afford to buy one of our products, that’s counter productive to our mission. We want, and will always strive, to make the outdoors affordable for whoever wants to enjoy it. The only thing that forces cost back into our products is our high demand for the best quality. Our measuring stick is simple. A large canvas sign hangs in our corporate offices that champions this…
“How many of our products will we see being used 20 years after we sell them?
That’s the goal. That’s the win.
Anything else means we failed.”
We are driven to make products you will use often, care for, and hopefully pass down to your children and grandchildren.
These days, you ever notice that products are seemingly made to wear-out or break after only a couple years of use? When did this become okay in our culture, country, and world? Believe it or not, there are actually entire classes on this practice in some business schools. This corrupt idea basically teaches that if your product eventually wears out, customers will be forced to return to buy a new one to replace it. Thus, your business will get more money from a single customer by making an inferior product. Thankfully, the executives running Denver Outfitters reject that ideology whole heartedly.
Our desire is to keep innovating new products. We believe if we give you a product that lasts a lifetime, your experience will be the best marketing we ever would want for all the new things we plan on bringing into the world. And we believe our valued customers will return over and over to see the new, and high quality, products we have made just for them. In understanding that, our price for the OverRoam Tent is only $2,599.00.
Most people who buy outdoor adventure equipment do their research. We are hoping and, to be completely honest, we are counting on that! We encourage everyone to look around at other Roof Top Tents available today. Look at quality, performance, design, customer care, and reviews. We believe our OverRoam Roof Top Tent will exceed them all. In fact, we firmly believe our product will win by a couple of touchdowns! And while doing your due diligence, we hope you’ll look at the crazy high prices out there. Often for much less and poorer quality products. We encourage everyone to even search eBay, Craigslist, and Amazon for similar used products. Denver Outfitters price will be consistently MUCH lower than the asking price of even used tents! During October, preparing for this launch, we searched craigslist in the top twenty camping states in America for roof top tents. We were able to find a few dozen hard shell car top tents for sell. Every single one of them was asking more for their older, used, and lesser quality tent than we are offering new!
So, how are we able to make a better product for a lower selling price? Well, it wasn’t easy and it takes some faith in our customers! Early on, our manufacturing costs projections were going to make our eventual retail price around $4,800.00!
We decided to leverage our purchasing power, fierce negotiation skills, and some strategic out-right begging to drive down the cost of each unit while still maintaining every inch of the high quality we demanded. Basically, the more units we would commit to manufacture, the lower the price of the parts became.
In other words, we financially committed to make thousands of OverRoam Roof Top Tents in order to get to the lower price you deserve. We then decided to pass the savings on so more people could afford our excellent product.
We have leveraged ourselves and bet big because our customers deserve the best quality at the best price!
